April in Moab, get first hand a strong calendar of events for Moab this April 2012.
The first few days of April can be shared with the 2012 Artist in the Park. Selected for his ability in photography, Logan Hansen was awarded the honor of Artist in the Park for 2012.

The Jeep Safari kicks off the month in the first week of April in Moab.
Jerome Shaw will be providing a photography workshop April 7 & 8. The second week in April NOLS hunkers in to teach Wilderness First Responder to leaders of the great outdoors.
April 7th join the Dead Horse Point State Park ranger at the visitor center of the park at 9:30 PM for a 1 mile loop hike by full moon.
April 9 – 14 a silent backpacking retreat covering 2-6 miles a day will be celebrated at the Spring Desert Retreat in Southern Utah.
April 12th at the Moab Information Center at 7 PM Joel Tuhy provides a free lecture about the local blossoms in and around canyonlands and arches of Moab.
The April 14th weekend is a busy one. Swing by the WabiSabi Thriftique on 411 Locust Lane from 9 am to noon for the Gear Swap. The Amasa 9.5 and 6.5 miler trail runs start 4-6 PM on Friday April 13th with registration packet pick up at Gearheads (471 S. Main St.). This trail race will run Saturday out on the Kane Creek Trailhead and produces by GrassRoots Events. The Adventure Xtreme is a multi-sport race participating in a loop including the Colorado River and rappels from atop the high canyon walls. Check-in Friday at Red Cliffs Lodge from 7-10 PM. Plan to experience the Moab Community Theater group performance of, Currents, 4 short plays to raise funds for the non-profit Community Rebuilds on Friday and Saturday nights at Star Hall on Center Street. The plays are Adult themes and inappropriate for youth. The first Moab Art Walk takes places among various Moab venues from 5- 8 PM Saturday night too. Circulate to meet with the artists.
April 15th rise up early to take a Bird Walk with the Dead Horse Point State Park ranger. Meet at the park visitor center at 7 AM.
Midweek April 19th at the Historic Star Hall on Center Street a film, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, will be shown at 7 PM.
April 19-22 Yoga and Meditation kick start an active summer with Alchemy Tours.
April 20 – 23rd the International Union of Veterinary Cyclists will convene for Vet Lectures.
April 20 -22 get better Core Mountain Bike skills with a workshop by Better Ride Skills Coaching.
April 21 at Swanny City Park there will be a Moab Earth Day Bazaar.
April 21st Bret Edge will have a Photography Boot Camp and please stop by his new Main Street studio to see his work for sale. Women Inn Tour is traveling by road bike and in Moab this weekend as is a Mountain Bike Skills workshop. At 8:30 PM set up a chair near the Dead Horse Point State Park visitor center for a guided star talk with the park ranger.
The Women’s Road Cycling Inn Tour will be rolling around Moab April 21 -27 2012.
April 21 – 29th happens to be free park entrance days for Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Celebrate National Park week in Moab at Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
The last week of April includes another week long course on Wilderness Medicine Institute from April 25 – 29 2012. The Spring Action Car Show held in Swanny City Park on April 27, 28 and 29. New this year, is a motorcycle event, Gas Gas Ride Rally, taking place April 27 -29th for Off-road and Dual Sport motorcycling.
Learn more about the Desert Wildflowers, local biologist Joel Tuhy has a full day workshop on April 28th that can be reserved through Canyonlands Field Institute.
